Meet The Reconsidered Team: Meg McClean, Strategist & Project Manager
😉 Describe what you do in a couple of sentences
I am a planner, timekeeper, supporter and strategic thinker. I develop trusted client relationships, encourage my team and keep them organized, conduct in-depth research and synthesize findings into thoughtful strategies that help companies achieve positive change.
⚡️ “Aha!” moment that sparked your interest in sustainability
In my early twenties, I had a fashion blog with my best friend (*cringes*) and we were lucky enough to get invited to cover Eco Fashion Week (which unfortunately doesn’t exist anymore). The event opened my eyes to the human and environmental impacts of the textile and apparel industry. In the years since, I have nurtured my interest in responsibility as it relates to fashion – developing relationships with industry experts and innovators, taking courses to increase my knowledge and using my influence among friends and colleagues to inspire conscious consumption. I feel fortunate to be able to work in this space too!
🎉 Favorite part of your job
Finalizing smart and engaging deliverables that are thoughtfully designed! I love taking a moment to reflect on all the hard work that’s gone into a deliverable and adding finishing design touches. And of course, surrounding myself with (kind, amazing, smart) people and work that share my values 🙂.
📚 Last book podcast you listened to
I must admit, my guilty pleasure is watching reality TV and allowing my brain to float away into an (ironically) unreal world. I recently listened to a BBC Radio 4 podcast called Unreal: A Critical History of Reality TV and loved it. Written and narrated by journalists Pandora Sykes and Sirin Kale, it discusses how reality TV influences our lives and the ethical questions raised by the format - a must for anyone who wants to carefully tow the line between flexing and relaxing brain cells 😉.
😍 Current brain-crush
Christine Arylo is currently helping me create more harmony in my life and I LOVE HER.
🌳 Words of wisdom for anyone starting a career in impact
Don't get disheartened by opportunities that don't work out. Keep networking with people you are drawn to and lean on that network – you never know what a coffee or a message or an optimistic job application could lead to!
